This only ensures that the redhat-release RPM is not upgraded. You will still get RHEL5 update 8 packages installed with a yum update operation. You can query if you have RHEL5 update 8 packages by running rpm -qa|grep el5_8
Your post only describes how you fool vSphere Client to believe it is running on a certain RHEL update version.
I have not found any way to "lock" your RHEL5 installation to a desired RHEL update version. I have also tried yum versionlock as well without any luck.

Well! I had the same problem also as soon as I move my location. I was fixing it as follows:
1-Remove the microsim and insert insert it into a regular USB modem.
2-Instaling the modem on my laptop
3- Hooking onto the net using the USB, browse for a couple of minutes, then logoff
4- Reinsert the microsim into the Ipad and it works!

Thx for this blog post. I'll be reading & digesting this slowly.

btw, 10 Gbe for the homelab is a viable possibility.

Pls see this podcast & my youtube video

oups sorry i didn't see i was using my school email, it's me anthony xD.

For NFS i'm not fan of load balancing teaming, i think use a VDS for the storage part it's just too dangerous. But you can make quite a good "manual" loadbalancing with multiple networks.

I just don't remember if you can mount the same share with different IP's or if you are oblige to make a new share for each export (it doesn't matter with zfs because you pick space on the same pool).

Hiya 77109,

I'm using both NFS and iSCSI on my NexentaStor server.

I use mostly NFS for five other lesser ESXi hosts, running two vCloud Director labs. I definitely use the NFS for my Multi-Cell vCloud Director implementation. For Labs, getting quickly a NFS mount point into an ESXi is great and flexible. I also centralize my .iso files on the NFS share and I use the NFS as the scratch disk and logs.

I have not pushed the NFS storage with Load Balancing Teaming and IP Network Multipathing as far as some other people.

When facing customers and storage vendors, I often hear people talk about performant NFS with 10GbE. 10 GbE is still expensive for homelabs. Maybe I'll be able to upgrade my lab to 10GbE with a Cisco SG500X-48 Switch, but not before the end of the year.

VAAI is limited to the iSCSI protocol for now with Nexenta (rare are the other storage vendor that propose VAAI on NFS). Having the VAAI on the NexentaStor Community Edition is just fantastic.

I'm not expecting much use of the L2ARC on my IO Analyzer test patterns, but I do see my L2ARC being used quiet extensively when running my VMware Data Recovery jobs in the evening. So I do see usage of my L2ARC.

As for the MRU and MFU for L2ARC topic, that is still something I have not studied, understood and tested. I'm not going to make the claim that I understand everything about ZFS & NexentaStor. I just had to lookup what the MRU and MFU are with google before posting this answer :-)

Why iscsi and not nfs?
And with your test the l2arc is normally not use because l2arc use the mfu and mru algorithm so you need some day maybe a week before the l2arc become useful
But it's still a good testing platform

P.S have you check your arc utilization? because by default nexenta will only use 40% of your ram for caching data, and you can change this parameter

Guys, I facing the same problem. So this is general bugs found in iOS5.1 ??
Reboot is only temporary solution, but when the iPad not use 3G for long time (for example we are in Wifi spot area), when it turn back to 3G it will raise the same error.
